To provide a method for producing a cushion body for chair that is a sheeted cushion body to be used for a backrest part or a seat part of chair, which facilitates an operation for laying a sheet member while minimizing the magnitude of tension of the sheet member, and which is minimized in secular change, and a chair provided with the cushion body.
The method includes: a sheet member preparation step of laying a tension cord 9 along a peripheral part of the sheet member 8 formed of a material which contracts by heat treatment; a sheet member laying step of winding the peripheral part of the sheet member to the reverse side of an annular support frame 7 to enclose the outer periphery of the support frame while laying the sheet member over the surface side of the support frame, and further narrowing the peripheral part of the sheet member by tying the tension cord; a heat treatment step of thermally contracting the sheet member by performing heat treatment in a state where the sheet member is installed on the support frame to thereby give a tension to the sheet member; and a fixing step of fixing the peripheral part of the sheet member to the outer periphery of the support frame.
