To provide a method for producing ethynylphthalic anhydride derivatives and ethynylphthalic acid derivatives, with a high purity and a high quality on an industrial scale, which derivatives are useful as functional materials such as medicines, agricultural intermediates, liquid crystals and electronic materials and especially for a terminal sealing material for functional polymers and oligomers.
The method for producing ethynylphthalic anhydride derivative represented by formula (1) or a method for producing ethynylphthalic acid derivative represented by formula (4) comprises reacting a compound represented by general formula (2) with a compound represented by general formula (3), and treating the reaction product with an adsorbing agent. Wherein, in formulas, Q is an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, a cycloalkyl group, a cycloalkenyl group, a bicycloalkyl group, a tricycloalkyl group, an aryl group or an acyl group, which groups may have a substituent, and X1 is a halogen atom.
