Abstract:
To produce a formylalkenyl=alkoxymethyl=ether compound in high purity and high yield by suppressing deprotection of an alkoxymethyl group of a dialkoxyalkenyl=alkoxymethyl=ether compound, and selectively hydrolyzing only acetal.SOLUTION: The present invention provides a method of producing a formylalkenyl=alkoxymethyl=ether compound (2) represented by the general formula (2): R3CH2OCH2O(CH2)aCH=CHCHO (2) where, in the formula, R3 and a are the same as defined hereunder, by hydrolyzing a dialkoxyalkenyl=alkoxymethyl=ether compound represented by the general formula (1): R3CH2OCH2O(CH2)aCH=CHCH(OR1)(OR2) (1) where, in the formula, R1 and R2 are each independently a univalent 1-15C hydrocarbon group, or a bivalent 2-10C hydrocarbon group as R1-R2 generated by mutually bonding R1 and R2, R3 is a hydrogen atom, a 1-9C n-alkyl group or a phenyl group, a is an integer of 1-10, in the presence of acid while removing a generated alcohol compound.SELECTED DRAWING: None
