To provide a method for producing granular hydrous gel capable of producing a granular shaped article without detriment to characteristics as hydrous gel.
This method for producing the granular hydrous gel is characterized in that a mixed liquid (I) comprising a polyurethane resin (C) having a terminal isocyanate group obtained by reacting a polyisocyanate (A) with a liquid polyol (B) containing ≥70 wt.% of a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing ethylene oxide (a) and propylene oxide (b) in a weight ratio (a)/(b)=50/50-90/10, a water-soluble high-molecular polysaccharide (D) capable of gelling on contact with a metallic ion and water (E) is gelled in a granular form in an aqueous medium containing a metallic ion to thereby produce the granular shaped article.
