Abstract:
To obtain a methacrylic resin for an optical screen having high heat-resistance, low water absorption and lowered birefringence, for example, a resin for a Fresnel lens sheet, a lenticular lens sheet or a front panel constituting a transmission-type screen of a projection TV.
The methacrylic resin for the optical screen has a Vicat softening temperature of ≥105°C, a pencil hardness of ≥3H and a birefringence of ≤150 nm in the form of a sheet of 2 mm thick. The resin is composed of 50-80 wt.% methyl methacrylate and 20-50 wt.% aromatic vinyl monomer, the aromatic vinyl monomer is styrene and α-methylstyrene and the styrene/α-methylstyrene ratio is 0.4-18. This invention further provides the optical screen made of the resin.
