Abstract:

To provide a high-density fibrous structure as a composite material having improved mechanical strength through raising the fiber volume ratio thereof and decreasing the resin aggregate content thereof.

The high-density fibrous structure as the composite material 1 is obtained by impregnating a woven fibrous structure with a resin to effect molding; specifically, by mutually laminating a plurality of woven fabrics comprising fibers 2 and fibers 3 crossing the fibers 2, pressing the laminate and then impregnating thus pressed laminate with the resin to effect melding, wherein prior to the resin impregnation, the woven fibrous structure is repeatedly pressed 100-400 times under an average pressure of 0.5-1.0 MPa using a pressing gear to increase the density of the woven fibrous structure. Thereby the fiber meandering inside the resultant composite material 1 can be reduced, the fiber volume proportion thereof is raised, and the resin aggregate 4 content thereof is lowered, thus the mechanical strength including interlaminar shear strength and fatigue strength of the final composite material 1 can be increased.
