Abstract:
To provide a soft and bulky nonwoven fabric having unidirectional extensibility and stretchability and good appearance and touch feeling, thus suitable as a material for sanitary goods including paper diapers, and to provide a method for producing the above nonwoven fabric.
The nonwoven fabric is obtained by gear stretching of a thermoplastic polymer nonwoven fabric 15-200 g/m2 in basis weight by a factor of 1.1-3.0. The nonwoven fabric thus obtained has periodical wavy stitches, the percent elongation in the direction of the wavy stitches of 40-300%, and the ratio of the percent elongation parallel in the wavy stitch direction to that rectangular thereto of 1.3-6.0.
