Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a high molecular weight polyarylene sulfide.SOLUTION: There is provided a method for producing a polyarylene sulfide via the following steps 1 and 2. Step 1: a step of heating a reaction mixture (A) containing at least a sulfidation agent, a dihalogenated aromatic compound and an organic polar solvent as raw material components to generate a polyarylene sulfide. Step 2: a step of cooling a reaction liquid containing the polyarylene sulfide obtained in the step 1 to less than the boiling point of the organic polar solvent, followed by re-heating at the boiling point of the organic polar solvent or more and 225°C or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
