Abstract:

To provide a method of producing a red tuff loam material and pottery containing a fine powdery material produced by the same method.

The red tuff loam produced from soil and containing Si, Al, Fe, Mg, Na, Mn, Ti, Ca, Ba, B, Pb, Cr, Ga, V, Zn, Zr, Be, Sn, Cu and Ni is screened to remove contaminant, dried and pulverized into a soil particle adjusted to have about 5-7 μm diameter by a coarse pulverizer. The soil particle is further pulverized into the fine powdery material adjusted to have about 0.2-2.5 μm diameter by a fine pulverizer. The pottery such as a flower vase is formed by mixing 10-30 wt.% fine powdery material produced in this way with porcelain clay and kneading with a proper amount of water, shaping into a prescribed shaped vessel and firing the vessel at about 800°C for 15 hr after drying.
