Abstract:
To provide a method for producing a transparent ceramic having high permeability, also having uniform insertion loss over an in-plane whole area and free from bubble defects.SOLUTION: A method for producing a transparent ceramic comprises the steps in which: a candidate composition comprising a binder, optionally a dispersant and a plasticizer is obtained; the candidate composition is dissolved into a solvent, thereafter, the amount of the solvent is reduced to 0.1 mass% or lower, and a glass transition point thereof is measured; a candidate composition having the glass transition point of 25°C or higher and 60°C or lower is selected as an organic additive composition; with the composition obtained in the selecting step, an organic additive composition comprising the binder, optionally the dispersant and the plasticizer is prepared; raw material for sintering formed from metal oxide powder and the organic additive composition are pulverized to obtain a pulverized mixture; the pulverized mixture is granulated; the granulated mixture is sintered to obtain a sintered compact; and the sintered compact is pressurized.SELECTED DRAWING: None
