Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the degradation of visibility by artifacts in transmission images and to provide high printing quality.
CONSTITUTION: These method and device for scaling and smoothing facsimile images scale received facsimile images along a given axis, increase a printing image resolution along the axis, smooth the scaled images and reduce tick for deteriorating the visibility. It is achieved by analyzing received image data relating to adjacent reception lines provided with different picture element numbers and filling picture elements between the lines corresponding to a designed prescribed filling rule for the smoothing of the printing output images as well. Various prescribed rules are applied and intermediate results are generated. A part or all of the intermediate results are understood by scaling/smoothing algorithm and final smoothed and scaled output picture element images are generated. Preferably, the analysis and filling are performed by a hybrid hardware and a firmware sub system in a reception side facsimile equipment or a facsimile reception printer.
