Abstract:

PURPOSE: To solidify CaCO3 and/or MgCO3 or a material consisting essentially of them under mild conditions.
CONSTITUTION: CaCO3 and/or MgCO3 or a material consisting essentially of them are mixed with at least one Ca or Mg based material selected from CaO, Ca(OH)2, MgO and Mg(OH)2 and a silica based material and thereafter, the resulting mixture is solidified by utilizing an autoclave reaction. Thus, these raw materials are easily and efficiently solidified under mild conditions of comparatively low temp. and low pressure by only treating them through using a conventional device, i.e., an autoclave to obtain a high strength solidified body and accordingly, the reduction in energy consumption and cost can be attained by using this method. Therefore, CO2 in a waste combustion gas can be fixed and recovered as CaCO3 and/or MgCO3 and the recovered material is solidified at a low treating cost to effectively utilize the solidified product for construction and civil work materials, etc.
