Title:
METHOD FOR SOLVING COMPETITION OF LONG DISTANCE BUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3481265
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To solve bus competition over a long distance without increasing a reference protocol time constant to be used for arbitration by stopping any arbitration being progressed at present by a 2nd network segment at the time of receiving a 1st network control signal by the 2nd network segment.
CONSTITUTION: When an SCSI device on an SCSI bus segment 10 outputs an SCSI BSY signal, an arbitration period is started. When the SCSI BSY signal is outputted to the segment 30, an extending device 40 outputs an SCSI SEL signal to the segment 30. Since the SCSI SEL signal is quickly outputted to the segment 30, any SCSI device on the segment 30 which tries to start arbitration after the start of the arbitration period ends the arbitration without obtaining bus control. Namely an SCSI device on the segment 10 which has the highest ID on a data line 11 wins the arbitration.
