Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the energy efficiency of an electrically-driven vehicle having an electromagnetic brake which requires exciting current continuously flowing thereto while the vehicle is running, causing the power consumption to reach to about 30% of the motor current when the vehicle is running on level ground.
SOLUTION: A direct drive mode is adopted using an outer rotor permanent magnet synchronous generator as the driving motor of the electrically-driven vehicle. When obtaining a braking force, current is applied to the stationary phase winding of the synchronous generator when the actual motion of the electrically-driven vehicle becomes equal to or under several percent of the rated speed.
