Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a new coated and laminated solid-synthesis polymer by making the polymer hydrophilic, giving it high humidity and adhesion and also water repellency and enabling vapor to penetrate the coated and laminated product.

CONSTITUTION: Surface of a solid-synthesis polymer such as a polyester cloth structure is contacted with a bath of pH 7 or more composed of a swelling agent or a mixture of a swelling agent and a base, and the bath is heated at least to 200°F (93.3°C) for at least a second. Then, the bath is acidified to less than pH 7, the polymer is contacted with a hydrophilic active substance for at least 5 minutes, and then the polymer and bath are separated. After that, the polymer is coated with a fluid, curing coating composition. Furthermore, the coating is cured on the solid-synthesis polymer to obtain a coated solid-synthesis polymer. A laminated solid-synthesis polymer can also be obtained.
