The method and system and a computer program allow a client device to be able to easily and user-friendly transmit a network configuration from a broadband modem to a residential gateway. Thus, an installation processing easy for users can be provided. In place of the residential gateway, various types of network switches such as a router, a bridge, or a brouter may be used. The method can be performed through one command or one small set of a user command. For example, the method can be performed through a pull-down menu or an icon on a graphical user interface.
