To provide a melt combustion method and apparatus, in which combustibles such as waste and coal are gasified, and gas containing a great amount of combustibles is generated, of which ash can be melted by self heat quantity.
Waste is gasified in a fluidized bed furnace 2, ash in the gas is melted in a melting furnace. The temperature of the fluidized bed in the furnace 2 is kept at 450-650°C. The waste is fed to the furnace 2, and gasified to form gas and char. Incombustibles contained in the waste and the fluidized medium are discharged from the furnace 2, and they are separated from each other. Metals in the incombustibles are collected. The fluidized medium is returned to the furnace 2. The gas and char discharged from the furnace 2 are fed to a melting furnace 41 and combusted. The ash is melted and then cooled rapidly with water.
