Title:
METHODS FOR ENCODING AND DECODING DIGITAL DATA AND DEVICE FOR IMPLEMENTING THOSE METHODS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3283130
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To attain high-level error protection against a burst code by closely analyzing input and output by using largish redundancy when encoding digital data to at least two extents of error protection.
CONSTITUTION: When a code block of a user element reaches an input terminal 20 together with some kind of bit, symbol, and synchronizing bit, it is received by an input unit 22 and stored in an input store 24, if necessary. For correct storage, a general controller 30 assigns necessary addresses and a choice between 'completion of error correction' and 'no correction in the presence of an error' is performed. After all lines are processed, an enable signal is supplied from a 1st decoder device 26 to the controller 30, symbols present in the store 24 are transferred, column by column, to an output store 34, and similar operation is performed in a 2nd decoder device 32 to decode all blocks.
