Abstract:

To provide new sclerostin-protein antagonists, methods for identifying new sclerostin antagonists, molecules that can depress expression of SOST gene, and methods for identifying such molecules.

The invention provides identifying methods for depressing expression of the SOST gene including (a) adding osteoblast inducing culture medium in an amount sufficient for cells to express the SOST gene to mesenchyme cell, (b) bringing the cells in contact with test factors, (c) detecting the depression in the expression of the SOST gene in the absence of the test factors on comparison with the expression of the SOST gene in the presence of the test factors.
