Title:
MOLD FOR MOLDING OPTICAL ELEMENT AND METHOD FOR MOLDING OPTICAL ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3266659
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the mold capable of massively producing optical elements each having one or more small convex-like microlenses on its surface, and to provide the method for molding the optical elements.
CONSTITUTION: The mold 1 for molding an optical element having one or more convex microlenses having flat surfaces or arbitrary curved surfaces, respectively, is characterized by disposing holes 4 on its surface back to the molding surface 2 only in the desired number of the microlenses, each of the holes 4 having the same diameter as the desired diameter of the microlens, and having a depth that the tip of the hole is apart from the molding surface in a distance of ≤1.5mm and that the hole does not penetrate the molding surface, and the method for producing the optical element by thermally softening an optical element material and subsequently molding the softened material with the mold 1 as an upper mold and/or a lover mold.
