Title:
MOLYBDENUM ELECTRODE USED FOR PREVIOUS FURNACE ATTACHED TO ELECTRIC MELTING FURNACE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3871172
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a cost reduction of an electrode itself with durability against a long term operation capable of preventing an oxidation of a molybdenum electrode even in the case of dipping in a high temperature molten slag.
SOLUTION: Each electrode bar comprises a molybdenum electrode 31 dipped in a molten slag, a water-cooled jacket pipe 32 made of copper disposed above the slag, and a coupler 33 for connecting them at an above site of the slag. A blind hole 34 extended down is formed at an axial core of the electrode 31, an insert pipe 36 passing through the pipe 32 is inserted into the hole 34, and a double space is assured in the jacket pipe and the molybdenum electrode. The pipe 36 is connected to a water supply port 37a provided at an upper part of the electrode, a cooling water forward passage 38 is formed therein, while an outer periphery of the insert pipe becomes a return passage 39. When high pressure water is supplied to the pipe 36 to flow to the passage 39, bubbles generated at an inner wall of the hole 34 is cleared away.
