PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly shift to an operating state that makes the operation state of a prime mover a target when a target driving power that should be outputted to a driving shaft is changed in a motive power output device which performs torque conversion of motive power outputted from the prime mover to desired motive power and outputted to the driving shaft.
SOLUTION: Torque Td* that should be outputted to a driving shaft is calculated based on a driving shaft revolution speed Nd and the actuating amount AP of an accelerator pedal (S100 to S104), and the target revolution speed Ne* of an engine and target torque Te* are set based on the torque Td* (S106 to S110). When the deviation ΔNe between the set target revolution speed Ne* and an engine revolution speed Ne does not exist in the prescribed range where the engine smoothly is shifted, the speed Ne* and the torque Te* are reset so that it may exist in the prescribed range (S116 to S124). As a result, even though a target revolution speed Ne* that is considerably different from a revolution speed Ne is set, it is possible to smoothly shift an engine to a target operation point.
