Abstract:
PURPOSE: To stop driving of a motor if a malfunction is discovered by detecting a malfunctioned element at the time of starting the motor in a motor driver for operating a drive motor of a hard disk unit and a method for detecting the malfunction of the driver.
CONSTITUTION: The motor driver comprises control means 11 for digitally controlling a motor drive, driving means 13 inputting a control signal from the means 11 to supply a power source current, rotary driving means 14 having a motor 14a to be rotatably driven by energization from the means 13 and rotating angle detectors 15a, 15b, 15c for detecting the rotating angle of a rotor of the motor 14a, short-circuiting trouble detecting means 16 inputting a driving current from the means 13 to output a short-circuiting trouble detection signal U1 to the means 11, and open trouble detecting means 17 inputting a driving voltage from the means 13 to output an open trouble detection signal U2.
