Title:
MULTIBEAM OPTICAL DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2564451
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a simple and inexpensive method and device used in a direct read/after write optical data storage system, etc., for measuring respective power of plural overlapped beams.
CONSTITUTION: Beforehand, one of laser diodes 20, 22 is turned on, and the power of the beam 26, 28 arriving at a photodetector 100 through reflection preventing coating 40, and the power of the beams reflected by a cover 16 and arriving at the photodetectors 42, 44 are detected respectively. Further, both diodes 20, 22 are turned on, the first part of the overlapped beams is detected by the detector 42, and the second part is detected by the detector 44, and the beam power ratios of respective diodes are decided using the detection result. When the system is being operated, respective laser power from respective diodes are measured by those power ratios and signals from the detectors 42, 44 without separating the overlapped lasers, and laser power control is performed easily.
