PURPOSE: To set the relay line with easy configuration easily and surely by detecting the presence of the relaying function of a destination facsimile, transmitting the relaying destination information and the relaying request besides the picture information at the time of presence and transmitting an image without performing the relaying request at the time of the absence.

CONSTITUTION: When the relay multiple address transmission is performed, a switching part 50 is switched to a relay multiple address transmitting part 30, and a transmitting part 30 performs the successive calling of all destinations based on the relay destination information. A relaying function detecting part 60 judges the presence of the relaying function from a response signal from the terminal of the destination, and at the time of the presence, the switching part 50 is switched from the transmitting part 30 to a relaying request transmitting part 20. Next, the transmitting part 20 transmits the relaying destination information besides the picture information and performs the relaying request. When the relaying function is absent at the destination, the transmitting part 30 transmits the picture information through the switching part 50 without performing the relaying request. Thus, the relaying channel can be set with easy configuration, easily and surely.
