NEW MATERIAL:An N-aryloxycarbamic acid esters shown by formula I (A is =CH- or N; X and Y are H, Cl or trifluoromethyl; X and Y are not H at the same time; R is lower alkyl).
EXAMPLE: N-(2,5-Dichlorophenoxy)carbamic acid methyl ester.
USE: Useful as a herbicide showing effects on annual weeds such as Echinochloa crus-galli Beauv. var. praticola Ohwi., perennial weeds such as bulrush or slender spikerush occurring in paddy fields in germination and growth period and no phytotoxicity to paddy rice plants. Exhibiting effects on gramineous weeds such as barnyard millet or cyperaceous weeds such as yellow cyperus by soil treatment and foliar treatment and high safety to crops.
PREPARATION: An aryloxyamine shown by formula II is reacted with chloroformic ester shown by formula III in the presence of a base to give a compound shown by formula I.
