Title:
STEERING CONTROL WHEEL CONTROL STRUCTURE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3076541
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the small turn performance, maneuverability and steering feeling, etc., of a vehicle.
SOLUTION: Front wheels 6 are driven by an electric steering device in which a rack shaft 8 is driven by an electrical motor 9. In such a vehicle, the front wheels are supported by a multilinkage suspension composed of an upper arm 21 and a lower arm 22, with a caster trail being substantially zero, a king pin angle being substantially zero. Additional steering torque in proportional to a steering angle sensed by a steering angle sensor 11 is added to control characteristics causing no output of electric motor driving signal at a neutral position of a steering. The electric motor driving signal is thus obtained. When the steering angle is sensed, the additional steering torque is added. The front wheels are controlled based on the electric motor driving signal according to the added steering torque. It is thus possible to improve steering repulsion near the neutral position of the steering, secure stability in straight running, generate resetting force according to steering angle and obtain returning of the steering.
