Title:
METHOD FOR PRODUCING AROMATIC HYDROXIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH0570390
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a phenol in high selectivity and in high yield by hydrolyzing an aromatic halide in a vapor phase.

CONSTITUTION: An aromatic halide is hydrolyzed in a vapor phase by using a mixture (e.g. NiO+CuO+Na-ZSM-5) prepared by blending a nickel compound with a copper compound and a substantially nonacidic crystalline aluminosilicate as a catalyst to produce a phenol. The catalyst is prepared by a simple method and the phenol is produced in high yield and stably. The catalyst has slight reduction in activity caused by caulking, etc., and formation of high-boiling by-products is extremely little.
