Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the corrosion resistance and durability of a recording medium by incorporating Si, Al and/or B, >=1 kinds among alkali metal elements, O, Y, >=1 kinds of lanthanoid elements and actinoid elements into the protective layer of an optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION:This magneto-optical recording medium 1 is constituted of a substrate 2, the protective layer 31, a thin magnetic film layer 4 as a recording layer, a protective layer 35 on the rear side of the substrate, an org. protective coating layer 5 an adhesive agent layer 6, and a protective plate 7. The protective layer 31 in this constitution contains the following elements: The layer first contains Si, Al and/or B, >=1 kinds among the alkali metals (M<1>) and >=1 kinds among the bivalent metals (M<2>) in the form of oxides such as SiO2, M<1>O, M<2>O, Al2O3, and B2O3 which form the glassy material. Li2, Na2O, etc., are then used as the metals (M<1>). BaO, CaO, SrO, etc., are used as the metal elements (M<2>). The durability and corrosion resistance of the recording medium 1 are thereby improved.
