PURPOSE: To realize an automatic document feeder high in stop position precision of an document on a platen glass.
CONSTITUTION: An automatic document feeder is constituted of a tray 61 to load a documents, a pick-up roller 65 to feed the documents one by one, a register roller 90 to stop the fed documents at one time, a conveyor belt 95 to convey, stop and discharge the documents delivered to a platen glass 29 from the register roller 90, a document reversing roller 100 and a paper discharge tray 115. The resist roller 90 and the conveyor belt 95 are connected to a stepping motor without a clutch interposed, and the original carried amount by the register roller 90 and the conveyor belt 95 is, by counting the drive pulse number of the stepping motor, is detected from timing to deliver the document from the register roller 90.
