PURPOSE: To prevent that a glass crack is caused in the bonding face of one pair of ferrite cores in a metal-in-gap type magnetic head wherein, after glass thin films to be used as magnetic gaps have been formed on magnetic thin films on opposite faces of one pair of ferrite cores, the magnetic gaps are bonded by a bonding glass.
CONSTITUTION: One pair of ferrite cores 1, 2 for a metal-in-gap type magnetic head are bonded by a bonding glass; magnetic gaps are formed. At this time, an oxynitride glass (a nitrogen-contained glass) 5 is used for the bonding glass. Thereby, since the reaction of magnetic thin films 3 with the oxynitride glass 5 is prevented, it is possible to form a magnetic head in which a glass crack is not caused and whose reliability is excellent.
