Abstract:

To improve the cycle characteristics of a lithium ion secondary battery that includes a negative electrode provided by reducing internal resistance in charging and discharging and improving ionic conductivity.

A negative electrode active material layer contains: Li-absorbing particles containing at least an element that can be alloyed with lithium, and capable of absorbing lithium ions; oxide particles composed of an oxide of the element that can be alloyed with lithium; and a binder. The average particle size of the oxide particles is smaller than the average particle size of the Li-absorbing particles. Thus an electrolytic solution seems to be allowed to easily permeate a binder coating, reaction resistance in charging and discharging is low, and the increase in internal resistance is also inhibited in repeated cycles of charging and discharging.
