To obtain a new compound as an alicyclic compound having an isocyanate group or an isocyanate-reactive group and useful as an intermediate generated material for producing or modifying a polymer such as polycarbonate, polyamide or polyurea.
This compound is expressed by formula I {R1-R4 are each H, a 1-6C alkyl or the like; (m) and (n) are each 2-5; X, A and B are each C; Y1, Y2, Z1 and Z2 are each H, OH or the like; when one of the atom pair, that is, R1 and R2 or R3 and R4 in at least one atom X are both alkyls}, preferably 1,4-diamino-2,2,6-trimethylcyclohexane, etc. The compound of formula I is obtained by reacting a compound corresponding to formula II {(r), (s) and (t) are each 0-5 under a condition of (r+s+t)=(n); Y3 and Y4 or Z3 and Z4 are respectively formed to oxo}, etc., (e.g. 4-oxoisophorone) in the presence of hydrogen and ammonia and a hydrogenation catalyst, as necessary, preferably at 50-200°C and under 10-250 bar pressure.
