Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new polypeptide having alkali phosphatase enzyme activity and a new gene encoding the polypeptide.
SOLUTION: New alkali phosphatase derived from Shewanella sp. SIB1 strain is provided by the present invention. Further, a polypeptide specifying the alkali phosphatase and a gene encoding the polypeptide are provided by the present invention. The enzyme of the present invention is especially useful as a reagent used in the field of genetic engineering, because the enzyme has characteristics effective in removing phosphoric acid group of 5' end of nucleic acid and capable of readily deactivating the enzyme by heat treatment after reaction because of low heat resistance.
