Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce the subject compound exhibiting an antiulcer activity with industrial advantage by developing rice malt in rice using a rice Aspergillus belonging to Ustilaginoidea and exhibiting an ustilogicin A or B productivity and subsequently isolating the product from the rice malt.
CONSTITUTION: A rice molt is developed in rice using an ustilogicin A- or ustilogicin B-producing rice Aspergillus [e.g. Ustilaginoidea virens Cooke SANK 15391 strain (Bikoken stipulation No. 3691)] belonging to Ustilaginoidea and the produced rice molt is then collected and dried. The dried material is subsequently crushed together with water in a mixer and then subjected to shaking extraction at room temperatures for 1hr. The resultant extract is filtered and the obtained filtrate is concentrated. The concentrated solution is fractionated and purified by adsorption column chromatography, high-performance liquid chromatography, etc., thus producing the objective new compound, ustilogicin A or ustilogicin B represented by the formula (R1 is H or a 1 to 5C alkyl; R2 is H or a 2 to 6C aliphatic acyl; R3 is methyl or propyl) and exhibiting an antiulcer activity.
