NEW INHIBITOR OF CELL ADHESION AS MACROSPHELIDES A AND B AND THEIR PRODUCTION

PURPOSE: To produce the subject new inhibitors, having inhibiting activities against the cell adhesion and useful for treatment, etc., of cancer metastasis, chronic inflamma tion, asthma, allergic diseases, etc., by culturing a microorganism, belonging to the genus Microsphaeropsis and having the ability to produce macrosphelides A and B.
CONSTITUTION: The new inhibitors of cell adhesion as macrosphelides A and B have the following properties: macrosphelide A: assuming a colorless needle crystal and having an elementary composition of C16H22O8 (obtained by high resolution mass spectrometry), 141-140°C melting point and a specific rotatory power [α]23D+84.1° (c=0.59, MeOH) and 342 molecular weight [measured by fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry], macrosphelide B: assuming a colorless platy crystal and having an elementary composition of C16H20O8 (the as that described above), 148-150° melting point, a specific rotatory power [α]23D+4.1° (the same as that described above) and 340 molecular weight the as that described above). A microorganism, belonging to the genus Microsphaeropsis and having the ability to produce the macrosphelides A and B [e.g. Microsphaeropsis sp. FO-5050 (FERM P-14776)] is cultured in a culture medium to afford the macrosphelides A and B.
