To provide a new peptide compound comprising a specific peptide compound having ability capable of being bound to a metal compound, and useful for a high function photocatalyst system, capable of regulating an orientation and configuration of a metal compound in a molecular level, and useful as a specific hydrolysis catalyst of DNA, etc.
This peptide compound is the new protein having an ability capable of being bound to a metal compound, a fragment of the protein, a peptide or a derivative of the variant thereof, and the metal compound is a metal ion including a metal atom, a metal oxide, a metal sulfide, etc., of Ti, Cd, Cu, Pb, V, Si, Pt, Ag, Rh, Mo, Fe, Sn, Ce, ruthenium, neodymium, praseodymium, etc. The peptide compound can be bound to the metal compound, enables the control of the orientation and configuration thereof in a molecular level, and is useful as a substrate for constructing a high performance photocatalyst system, and a catalyst, etc. for sequence-specific hydrolysis of an RNA and a DNA by forming a rare earth element complex, etc. The peptide compound is obtained from a ROP-protein and a variant formed by a recombination of gene thereof or peptide synthesis.
