Abstract:
To obtain a contact lens material having high wettability as well as oxygen permeability.
This new class of compound may be used as a new crosslinking agent for acrylic-containing, vinyl-containing and/or styrene-containing hydrophilic monomer to prepare a novel UV-curable hydrophilic copolymer suitable for use as biomedical articles, especially contact lenses. The new crosslinking agent is able to polymerize a hydrogel system which contains in a monomer mix, both, at least one vinyl, and at least one of either a styrene or an acrylic group.
