PURPOSE: To obtain a new nitro compound, having strong coronary vasodilator action and inhibiting action on blood platelet agglutination and useful as a therapeutic agent for ischemic cardiopathy such as angina pectoris, a hypotensive agent or a therapeutic agent for asthma, administrable for a long period and hardly causing resistance.
CONSTITUTION: The objective nitro compound of formula I [R is aryl or heteroaryl; R1 is H, aryl or heteroaryl; R2 is H, alkyl, aralkyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aralkoxycarbonyl, alkoxyalkyl, acyl, etc.; R3 and R4 are H, alkyl or aralkyl; R3 and R4 together denote carbonyl; X is formula II (R5 to R8 are H, alkyl, etc.; Y is O, S, etc.; (1) and (m) are 0-2)] or its pharmaceutically permissible salt, e.g. (E)-N-(4-pyridyl)-3-(2-nitrohexylidene)-2-hydroxyiminopropionamide. This compound of formula I, e.g. a compound in which R2 is H can be obtained by nitrating and hydroxyiminating a compound of formula III.
