Title:
NONDIRECTIONAL PNEUMATIC TIRE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3683940
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a nondirectional tread tire that includes a circumferential groove for improving wet traction with no assist of nonstandard carcasses, auxiliary reinforcement carcasses and two-ply reinforcement belt systems.
CONSTITUTION: A tire 10 includes a subtread, a plurality of tread elements 38 extending a height H, and a circumferential groove 44 cut in a tread 12 so as to have a depth greater than the height H of the tread elements 38 and/or to extend into the subtread. The groove 44 is most preferably bounded by continuous circumferential ribs that close the groove 44 to prevent drainage of fluid to the tread edge and reduce the amount of noise generated by the tread 12. The ribs also radially reinforce the tread 12 in the region of the groove 44 and aid in providing the tread 12 with a uniform road engaging surface 36 for maximum wear life. The tire 10 preferably includes a belt system 30 for substantially reinforcing the entire width of the tread 12.
