Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for obtaining TiAl intermetallic compound of high density only by a combustion synthesizing method under normal pressure without jointly using any mechanical external force such as HIP, hot press and centrifugal force.
SOLUTION: Co powder, Ni powder, and Al powder of the quantity for combustion-synthesizing CoAl or NiAl of 3-12 mol.% is added to Ti powder and Al powder for synthesizing TiAl by the self-combustion reaction, and combustion-synthesized under the normal pressure after the compacting to obtain TiAl intermetallic compound.
