To obtain the novel subject compound useful as a strong and effective anti-itching symptom agent and/or its prodrug.
This novel 4-arylpiperidine derivative for curing itching symptoms is a compound expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-4C alkyl; R3 is an aryl, a 1-10C alkyl, a 3-10C alkenyl or the like; Y is C(=E)NR8R9 (E is O or S; R8 and R9 are each H, a 1-10C alkyl, a 3-10C alkenyl or the like)], e.g. (±)-3-(1-hexyl-trans-3,4-dimethyl-4-pyperidinyl)phenyl dimethyl- carbamate, E.g. the compound of formula I in which R3 is a group such as a 1C alkyl, a 2-10C alkyl or the like) is obtained by reducing a compound expressed by formula II (R31 is H, a 3-8C cycloalkyl or the like) by using a suitable reducing agent. The compound expressed by formula II is prepared by reacting a compound expressed by formula III with a compound expressed by R31CO2H.
