Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL: The compd. expressed by formula I.
EXAMPLE: 1,1,2,4,4-pentamethyl-6-formyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydronaphthalene.
USE: An fragrance. This fragrance is powdery and has natural-warm aroma like musk and has the tone of such fragrance like that of dry wood resembling the oil of Pogostemon cablin (Blanco) Benth. The odorant further has strong diffusivity and improved persistence.
PROCESS: The compd. of the formula I is obtd. by oxidizing the compd. of formula II or formylating the compd. of formula III.
