To provide an observation system which is used for monitoring of disasters and also observing volcanoes, oceans, etc., and with which its observation range extended while reducing its installation cost.

This observation system includes an observation station 1a, which acquires observation data and transmits them via satellite communication and a monitoring station 12a, which receives the observation data transmitted from the station 1a via the satellite communication. An orbital satellite 8a is used for satellite communication for connecting together both stations 1a and 12a. Thus, it is possible to receive the observation data, even from a remote place without using cables and also to significantly extend the observation range, since the radio waves will not be interrupted by obstacles, using the satellite communication for the observation system.
