The olefin polymerization catalyst component is obtained by reacting a tripyridylamine compound to be represented by formula (1) (wherein R1, R5, and R9 are each independently a nitro group, a cyano group, a linear or cyclic alkyl group which may be substituted, an aryl group which may be substituted with a halogen, an alkoxy or dimethylamino, an aralkyl group which may be substituted with a dialkyl or a pyridyl group; R2 to R4, R6 to R8, and R10 to R12 are each independently a hydrogen atom, a nitro group, a cyano group, a linear or cyclic alkyl group which may be substituted with trimethylsilyl, an alkoxy, trifluoro or benzyloxy, an aryl group which may be substituted with a halogen, an alkoxy or a dimethylaminoaryl, an aralkyl group which may be substituted with a dialkyl or a pyridyl group) with a compound of a group 3-11 transition metal in the periodic table.
