To provide an opening and closing device which can automatically return a suspension door kept in a opened state to a closing position by a remote operation.
A suspension frame 4 to support a sash roller 5 is fixed to the upper part of a suspension door 3, and the sash roller 5 is set on an inclined rail 2. The suspension frame 4 is provided with a brake roller 16 which changes in position according to the rotating direction of the sash roller 5 and brakes the rotation of the sash roller 5 on a basis of a state located on a proceding side in the moving direction of the sash roller 5. The suspension frame 4 is divided into a lower suspension frame 4a to support the sash roller 5 and an upper suspension frame 4b to support a brake roller 16, and the upper suspension frame 4b is composed rotatably centering around a support shaft 7, and the upper suspension frame 4b is kept in a locked state by a lock pin 20 inserted into an engaging hole 18 and a solenoid 23 to stop and hold the lock pin 20. An electric current is applied to the solenoid 23 to release the stopping of the lock pin 20 for making the upper suspension frame oscillatable, and the pressing force of the brake roller 16 is released to return the door 3 to a closed position.
