To obtain an insertion method that makes the selection of a branching pipe for line insertion possible by setting an electromagnet a side wall oppositely facing a branching pipe fork and attracting a magnetic-material tip attached to the tip end of an optical cable for line insertion.
An electromagnet 4 is set on a side wall 31 oppositely facing the branching pipe fork 32 of a branching part 3. Then, by energizing and magnetizing the electromagnet 4 on the side of a branching pipe 2A for line insertion, the optical cable 10 forcibly fed from the main pipe 1 is attracted to the magnetized electromagnet 4 at the magnetic-material tip 11 attached to the tip end of the cable, and is introduced to the communicative passage 33 on the branching pipe 2A side. In this case, a position detecting sensor or the like is installed near the electromagnet 4, ensuring that an optical cable 10 is introduced into the communicative passage 33 on the branching pipe 2A side, and by releasing the magnetization of the electromagnet 4, the optical cable 10 is inserted to branching pipe 2A through the flow of a fluid.
