To provide an optical film having high near-infrared shielding performance and also having high flexibility.
The optical film includes a substrate 1 and a near-infrared absorbing layer 2 disposed on one principal surface of the substrate 1, wherein the near-infrared absorbing layer 2 contains: a substituted benzene dithiol metal complex anion having a structure represented by formula (1) a compound comprising; and a counterion binding body with a cation. The cation includes: a cation A in which n in formula (2) is 2-4; and a cation B in which n in the formula (2) is 6-10. In the formula (1), R1 and R2 each represent at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of substituents such as a 1-6C alkyl group and a 1-8C alkylamino group, a substituted or unsubstituted morpholino group, a substituted or unsubstituted thiomorpholino group, a substituted or unsubstituted piperazino group and a substituted or unsubstituted phenyl group; and M represents a transition metal. In the formula (2), Q1 and Q2 each represent at least one heterocyclic compound selected from the group consisting of a 5-membered N-containing heterocycle, a condensed ring including a 5-membered N-containing heterocycle, a 6-membered N-containing heterocycle, and a condensed ring including a 6-membered N-containing heterocycle; R3 and R4 each represent a 1-8C alkyl group; and n represents a number of 2-4 or 6-10.
