Title:
OPTICAL PRODUCT SHOWING HIGH LEVEL SECOND-ORDER POLARIZATION SUSCEPTIBILITY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04233521
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a optical product having high second-order polarization susceptibility and high glass transition temp. by coupling org. molecular dipoles to a linear vinyl polymer having suspended cartoon ring aromatic groups.

CONSTITUTION: This product consists of a vinyl polymer having carbon ring aromatic groups suspending from the main chain in which org. molecular dipoles are substituted at least 60%, preferably 80% and more preferably 90%. This polymer is a linear (noncrosslinked) vinyl polymer having carbon ring aromatic groups with substitution of polarity-oriented asymmetric org. molecular dipoles suspended from the main chain. The molecular dipoles are bonded with ester or amide coupling to the suspended carbon ring aromatic groups. Thereby, the obtd. optical product has second-order susceptibility over 10-9 electrostatlc unit and >150°C glass transition temp.
