Title:
OPTICAL PULSE WIDTH MEASURING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04331334
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable an optical pulse width to be measured over a wide wavelength range at high resolution by obtaining a signal corresponding to correlation of high-order harmonics without using a non-linear medium. CONSTITUTION:Two optical pulses which are divided by a half mirror 22B in Michelson-type interference system 22 and where one is delayed in reference to the other are synthesized and then enter a multi-photon absorption type photoelectric surface 24B ion a photomultiplier 24, thus becoming a photoelectron which is proportional to a square or more of an incidence light intensity. An output signal of the photomultiplier 24 indicates a non-linear correlation waveform and a correlation width of this self-correlation waveform is detected and displayed by an analysis device. Since no non-linear medium is used, a filter for eliminating a fundamental is not needed, thus enabling a pulse width at a wavelength region to be measured up to femtosecond region.
